Chef Tọ́lá Adéyẹmí, founder of Ember

Chef Tọ́lá Adéyẹmí

Founder & Head of Fire

Since

2021

One clay pot, a grandmother's hands, and a lot of firewood.

Ember began as a Sunday supper club in Tọ́lá's flat. One pot of egusi, ten plastic chairs, and a WhatsApp broadcast list that somehow kept growing. People came for the food and stayed for the feeling of being fed by someone who meant it.

Today we're a proper fire kitchen in Montrose, but nothing important changed. We still cook over real firewood. We still answer every message ourselves. And Grandma Adéyẹmí's egusi is still on the menu, exactly as she made it.

“If it doesn’t taste like home, it doesn’t leave my kitchen.”

Loved by Houston, one plate at a time.

The jollof genuinely tastes like a Lagos owambe. That firewood smoke is real. Booked a table for 8 in under a minute, right from my phone.

We order the ram suya to the office every Friday. Delivery is always on time and still hot in the box. Nobody talks during lunch anymore.

Hosted my mum's 60th here. Chef Tọ́lá came out to greet the table. That kind of warmth you can't fake. The moin-moi truffle? Unreal.
B

Bisola & family

Private dinner

As someone who left Lagos 12 years ago, one bite of the egusi and I was home. I cried a little. Then I ordered a second plate.

The palm wine is the real thing, not the sweet bottled stuff. Cozy room, no rush, great playlist. My new Sunday spot, full stop.

Vegetarian in a barbecue town is hard. Here I had àkàrà sliders, dòdò and the puff-puff sundae and left completely happy.

Questions, answered.

None. Build your order right here and tap once. It opens in WhatsApp or your normal texts, whichever you already use. We confirm and take payment by card at checkout.

Across Montrose, Midtown, River Oaks, Downtown and the Heights, out to Rice Village and West U. Fees and live ETAs are listed in the Delivery section. Outside the zone? Message us and we’ll sort something.

Yes. The reservation tool handles up to 12. For 12+, a birthday, or a full buy-out, pick “Private event” and we’ll design a menu with you.

Plenty. Look for the “veg” tag on the menu. All our meat is halal-sourced, and the suya is a house of worship in itself.

We build heat to order. Every dish shows a pepper rating, and you can tell us “mild” in the order notes. The ayamase, though: respect it.

Pull up a chair. The fire’s already lit.

Build an order in under a minute, hold a table for tonight, or just say hello — every message lands with a real person in our kitchen.
